L-Tryptophan and the conversion to 5 HTP are known precursors to enhance the neurotransmitter Serotonin, manufactured in the brain and GI tract. L-Tryptophan absorption can be boosted by supplementation with B group vitamins.
Tryptophan is an essential amino acid. It is the precursor to 5-hydroxytrypophan (5-HTP) which is the direct precursor to serotonin. Serotonin is important for mood and sleep; when it is deficient, this can lead to anxiety, depression, insomnia, and various other neuropsychological conditions. L-Tryptophan works in about 50% of insomnia cases.
Tryptophan is the precursor for vitamin B3 in the form of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD). Only about 1/60th of the tryptophan in the body is actually converted to NAD.

HealthWise® Amino Powders are pure pharmaceutical grade powders and are packed by weight not volume, without the use of fillers or flowing agents. Some of the powders are slightly hygroscopic (retain moisture) and this can result in clumping. This can be broken apart with a spoon before taking or dissolved in water.
1gm on an empty stomach, preferably an hour before bed.
Taking Tryptophan off the spoon followed by coconut water or juice is a great way to absorb Tryptophan as it has low solubility in water.
Low degree heated water (up to 30 degrees) will aid solubility if unable to take off spoon. Excessive heating is not recommended as it will affect the stability of the product.
